COMPANY GOAL
As a distributor of architectural construction components, The Hallgren
Company selects products from top manufactures in the industry. Quality
products from such names as the Essex Lines of Sargent, McKinney, Graham and
Curries, along with top lines like Rock Mountain Metals, Schlage Lock, LCN, Best
Access Controls and Weyerhauser provide incentives for those architects,
contractors, and builders whose need for perfection is insatiable.
HISTORY

In September 1975, Michael Hallgren opened a Branch
Office for Barne-Smith Builders Supply of Amarillo, Texas. The Office was
located at 1322-35th Street Lubbock, Texas. The Lubbock Office's sales responsibilities
included Lubbock, Midland-Odessa, Abilene and Eastern New
Mexico.
The Lubbock Operation was split off form
Barnes-Smith Builders Supply in January 1979, and was re-named Hallgren-Smith,
Inc., with majority stockholder Larry Smith, and minority stock holder Michael
Hallgren. Construction of a new facility was complete in July of 1979 at
4410 Quirt Avenue Lubbock, Texas. We occupied that building for 14 years
until July of 1993.
During the late 1970's and early 1980's, the
rise in oil prices created quite a "boom" in West Texas - especially in the
Permian Basin. As a direct result of the increase in business, it was
decided to expand Hallgren-Smith, Inc. to include an office in Midland, Texas.
This office was opened in June of 1982 with Mark Hallgren as its manager.
The Hallgren Company itself was formed in
June 1982, with Michael Hallgren as majority stockholder and Mark Hallgren as
minority stockholder. Originally, The Hallgren Company was a
"holding" company that, in turn, owned the majority interest
in
Hallgren-Smith, Inc.
January 1985, The Hallgren Company purchased the
remaining shares of Hallgren-Smith, Inc. and officially
merged into The Hallgren
Company.
August 1987, Mark Hallgren moved back to Lubbock,
Texas and assumed the responsibilities as General Manager of The Hallgren
Company.
September 1988, Michael Hallgren sold to Mark
Hallgren enough of his shares to make Mark the majority stockholder and
President of The Hallgren Company
In April of 1989 The Hallgren Company opened a
Decorative Plumbing and Hardware Showroom, expanded its product line, and
began a Decorative Sales Division.
The decision was made late in 1989, to investigate
other potential markets. Las Vegas, Nevada was the eventual site selected
and the Las Vegas Office was officially opened on March 1, 1990.
In January of 1991, The Hallgren Company purchased
the assets of Bachman Construction and under Terrell
Bachman's management
established an Architectural Millwork Operation in Lubbock, Texas.
The Hallgren Company moved into its new company
headquarters July 23, 1993, at 5909-63rd Street in Lubbock, Texas. To say
that we are proud of our new facility would be an understatement.
The Hallgren Company of Midland, Inc. was
established as wholly owned subsidiary of The Hallgren Company in August 1994.
September 1994, Anthony Dulaney became a minority
stockholder in the Midland Corporation.
The Hallgren Company of DFW officially opened
September 1, 1995 in Fort Worth, Texas, expanding our market area to the
Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex and surrounding area.
September 1, 1995 also commemorates the 20th
Anniversary of operations for what is now The Hallgren Company.
We have experienced
significant growth over the
years. Starting from a small Branch office, with 1 full-time and 2
part-time employees, and sales of less than $500,000.00; we have grown to a
company with 4 Offices, over 60 employees and revenues exceeding $20 million annually
and still growing!
